We start our short but beautiful hike at the parking lot Schafflerhof in Kössen. The private parking lot costs 3 euros (as of April 2023) per day and from here we can hike directly on the circular route.
Our destination: the well-known mountain Grünten, the guardian of the Allgäu. With the transmission tower on the top, it can already be recognized from afar when driving by car from Augsburg in the direction of Allgäu.
The Große Klammspitze in the Ammergau Alps already beckons from afar with its striking rock faces and challenges you to climb it. We followed this call and didn't regret it for a second - even if the temperatures mixed with icy wind at the summit already resulted in a very tappy affair.
It is one of the last sunny autumn weekends this year. We want to take advantage of the great weather on Sunday to start another trip to the mountains. To avoid the hustle and bustle and the crowds as much as possible on such a beautiful day, we get up extra early and are on time for the first mountain ride at 8:30 a.m. at the Ehrwalder Almbahn, where our hike starts.
Our tour started in gorgeous weather at the Salet pier at the far end of Lake Königssee in Berchtesgadener Land. To get to Salet, you take a boat from Königssee. These leave about every 30 minutes and the round trip costs 25 euros per person (effective October 2022). The lake crossing alone is picturesquely beautiful and the color of the water is truly incredible when the sun shines on it!
